Facing the Facts

I had a realization last night at about 1:00 AM or maybe it was 1:30 or 2:00 or 3:00 or 3:30 or 4:00 or 4:30...etc. I am never going to be able to get more than an hour of consecutive sleep ever again. For the last two months my baby has decided sleep isn't necessary. She went from sleeping 6-8 hours a night without waking up to sleeping about a half-hour to an hour without waking up. I am up about 10 times a night with her. I have tried, humidifiers, swaddling, black out curtain, stuffing as much food into her as possible, extra blankets, no blankets, crib, bouncy chair, passy, crying herself to sleep, making her skip naps, etc. So I am not going to be able to get any sleep for the next eighteen years....until Makenzie goes to college. Possibly by the time she is 12 years old I will feel comfortable just letting her cry herself to sleep...but it's not like I can sleep while she is crying. I have a long road ahead....

Last Week

The other morning I heard Makenzie in her room calling for help when she was supposed to be sleeping. This is what I saw when I went in her room:

To get to this position she had to break free of her swaddle, kick off her comforter, turn 180 degrees, and then move down about 8 inches. What a funny baby.

This week my brother Riley came to town and stayed with me and Nick. I didn't take very many pictures, but I got a few when we played putt-putt (mini-golf)

Makenzie and Daddy. Makenzie loves her daddy! Except while she's eating. She doesn't like him to watch her eat and if he does...she stops and turns and whines at him every few mintues.

Traveling Baby

Makenzie has decided that she has things to do and places to go. I left her on the floor one morning while I was getting ready (She's naked because she woke up sweaty and needed to cool down....). Anyway, I had the blanket spread out nicely with her in the middle of it. A few minutes later I heard some struggling noises. I was curious to see what she was up to....

Oh she wanted that water bottle so bad! She did eventually get it.....

Then, she ditched the water bottle and started heading for the door.

After all that hard work she needed to snack to regain her strength for the next journey across the room.

Like Mother Like Daughter

One of my favorite things in the world is to get a massage! Apparently, it's one of Makenzie's too. Nick had just finished giving me a back massage and Makenzie was looking longingly at him. So, Nick gave Makenzie a turn. It is the only way Makenzie will lay peacefully on her's so funny....she instantly calms down.

Happy Birthday Dad!

I just wanted to wish you a Happy Birthday Dad! You have been the best dad I could ever ask for over the years and have taken such good care of me! You have always been there for me and I am SOOO lucky (or blessed....)

Makenzie and I are so happy that you came and surprised us when she was born! I was so sad when I didn't think you were going to be able to come....but I didn't want to be greedy and beg! Thanks so much for coming and meeting your little granddaughter and for helping us out! We love you! (And yes, Mom we are so glad you came too and thank you too.)

Big Girl

Makenzie's wildest dreams have come true. She got a chair so that she can sit at the table with Mommy and Daddy. At first she was curious.....

Then she looked like this for the next ten minutes:

Makenzie was very sleepy all day after her shots. I left her playing with her toys and looked back about a minute later. This was the first time she fell asleep without her pacifier since she was three weeks old.
Sometimes she sticks her tongue out when she smiles

She looks exactly like my sister Madison in this picture when Madison was a baby. Weird. Madison is engaged by the way! Congrats Madison & Josh!

Here is one of Nick at his basketball game. Yes, he did make the shot.

This is Makenzie watching the game. She actually LOVES basketball. She even follows the players with her eyes as they run up and down the court. I wonder where she got that from...

Makenzie was very excited about the one week of warm weather that we had....

She is just so cute!

Another four generations! Nick's dad's parents, Nick's parents, us, and Makenzie!
