Baby's First Week

Ready to go home from the hospital! She is so tiny in her car seat.

She loves Daddy

Ready to go to her first appointment. Makenzie was jaundice and had to go back to the hospital a few times for testing.

With Nonnie and Grandpa who came to take care of us!

Daddy doesn't get to see her very much because of his work and school schedule. So, whenever he comes home he insists on holding her no matter what. When he comes home from lunch, he holds her while he eats.

(I think she looks like a little boxer in this photo)

After her first bath.

Makenzie Anderson Bell

Baby Bell is finally here!
Born November 30
5:03 PM
6 lbs 14v oz
19 inches long
She is healthy and happy and probably the cutest baby ever! She didn't have a name for a few days but we finally decided on Makenzie Anderson Bell. Anderson was my Grandma's middle name and I promised her when I was eight years old that I would use the name for one of my kids.
I did go into labor on my own on Saturday night and did not have to be induced! I started having really hard contractions in the middle of the night. (I tried to tell Nick it was my abs of steel but I don't' think he believed me.)It was a 13 hour labor. The first 10 hours actually went by very fast. The last few were pretty rough. I did have an epidural which probably saved my life. There were some complications during the labor. Every time I had a contraction the baby's heart rate would drop dramatically. They started by putting me on oxygen which only helped a little bit. They figured out that the umbilical cord was wrapped around the baby's neck. I was also having what he called "dysfunctional irregular contractions." They kept adjusting pitocin levels to try to find a level that the baby would tolerate. They also had to pump water back inside of me. The doctor's exact words were "we are sharpening knives in the back for an emergency c-section." But somehow everything came together in the end and with the use of forceps, the baby was born the natural way!
Nick was so wonderful the entire time. He was so cute when she was born! I have never seen him so happy and glowing. He loves her so much. He is so good at picking her up and holding her and he even changed a diaper! During the delivery I told him that no matter what he saw no matter how gross it was, he had to smile and nod. So, every time I looked at him he would have a huge cheesy smile and would nod and it would crack me up and mess up my contractions. He was so funny.
Anyway, we stayed in the hospital for 48 hours hours after the birth and came home last night. She is such a good baby even though she keeps us up all night long. The pictures above are all from the hospital but there are more to come soon!

Still Pregnant

This is my 39 week picture. Kind of out of date. But, I probably still look about the same. Obviously the baby didn't come on time like the doctor said. I don't believe anything they tell me anymore. In fact, I would probably have a better chance of believing him if he said the baby wasn't ever going to come. Anyway, I did have another doctor's appointment on Wednesday and made an appointment to be induced on Monday. Hopefully the baby will come before then, but if not, Monday will be the deadline.

Baby Stuff

Nick and I decided that since our baby is coming soon, we should probably get the crib together. So last week Nick put together the crib, changing table, and little dresser. The sad part is we put the crib together in the living room and then it wouldn't fit through the baby's room door. Then we had to take it apart and then put it back together again in her room. It isn't the most quality crib and I am a little worried that when she turns six months it is all just going to fall apart.

I decided that I want to try to make her bedding. I wanted to make a blanket, bumpers, and bed skirt.

I worked hard on this blanket before we bought the crib and of course it wasn't the right size. So now I am just mad and haven't started to make anything else yet. At least the material is cute. I really hope the baby is a girl because if not, our little boy will be surrounded by pink! I barely have anything neutral!

I am now 39 weeks and had a doctor's appointment today. I am dialed to a 3 and 70% effaced. The doctor thinks that the baby is going to come within the week! When he said this I am certain I heard the Hallelujah chorus in the background. However, when I called to tell Nick his response was "Uh-Oh." You see, Nick has been kind of worried about our due date being so close to the BYU/Utah football game. Now there is an even greater chance that we might miss some of the game. Nick is funny. He isn't one to talk much or show his sympathy. Every night he comes home and finds me on the couch and asks how I'm doing and I say "everything hurts and my back and my groin and my stomach feels like it's stretching out to explode and my throat feels like it has acid fire burning and I can't breathe and the baby is kicking me in the ribs and I feel like I am going to DIE!" And then Nick will pat my arm and say "hang in there..." and then walk away.....But really he has done a great job of taking care of me. I don't think he really knows how to respond to my dramatics but he usually does try. I would give examples of how cute and sweet he is but it would just embarass him. So, if you ask me in secret what types of things he does I will tell you.

I also had a baby shower last Sat! My sister, sister in law, and friend all worked really hard and threw me an awesome shower! But, I have not got any pictures from my sister yet so I can't post any yet, but I will soon! Unless I am in labor.....which hopefully I will be.....But thanks everyone for coming and for the gifts! I am so excited to use them!

So, I always think Nick is the MVP, but that is just because he is so good at sports! Nick has always played intramural sports but it is getting harder for him to put teams together since most of his friends are done with school and have moved away. So, this year Nick decided to make a team with some of his school friends. This was not an easy task considering Nick is an electrical engineer and most of them can't even name an athlete. But, Nick knew the name of an engineer who has ever heard of 'sports' and invited them to be on his team. (He also invited his best friend Brandon because they always play together...)This group of nerdy guys was never supposed to win, but they did. Somehow they made it to the championship game! They did lose the championship game, but we were so excited that they made it that far! Congrats guys!

Nick is also playing for the ward flag football team. Again, I always think he is the MVP.

Nick's Birthday!

Nick's Birthday was last Thursday and he almost had a happy birthday! Everything was going great....the house was decorated, he had a homemade basketball cake of his choice made by his wife, he got fun presents, and he had friends over to watch the BYU football game. So, everything was great and then BYU lost and ruined his birthday...maybe it was because I made a basketball cake at a football party....

My Festive Family

I was going through some old pictures and realized that I came from quite the festive family. You name the occasion, and my family was ready for it.....

4th of July

Rainy Day

Disney Vacation

Bed Time

First Day of School

Thanks Mom, for making holidays and special occasions so fun for us growing up! Many people would probably be embarssed by this, but it was so fun when we were little!

Baby Bell's Bed

So I was looking at cribs on the internet and came across this one. I think this is the only one grand enough for Baby Bell. Too bad it costs more than I make in a year.... I guess baby will just have to suffer with a regular crib like every other baby whose parent's aren't movie stars...... But we all know this is the one she deserves!

31 Weeks

So, I am posting a 31 week post even though I'm 32 weeks now. Hopefully things aren't too different. Baby Bell is now around 3.75 pounds and 15 inches. She is very active...actually kind of out of control sometimes. It all started during the Olympics so sometimes I think she thinks she is an Olympic Gymnast. Also, she really hates to be the least bit squished. If I am crossing my arms and putting any weight down on her, she starts protesting by kicking my arm until I move it. Also, apparently I squish her when I lay on my side at night. She will kick the squished side until I move to my back. She is counting down the days until she can bust out of there (I can't say I blame her...) As for me, I am just counting down the days as well. I have been so uncomfortable and every part of me just hurts! Plus, I still haven't gotten over the nausea stage.

However, it is a probably good thing she isn't coming for another 8 weeks because we aren't really ready for her. We haven't bought a crib or really any baby essentials. We finally bought a travel system this week at least we can get her home from the hospital when the time comes. We are so excited for that!

Football Season

It is football season again and BYU is doing awesome! We are undefeated and currently ranked #11. Although I do know some about football, I am not a boy so I am not going to attempt to get into the details of the season. I will just say that we are doing really good, the games are really fun to go to, and I will post some pictures! If you want to know specifics, e-mail Nick.

BYU vs. Northern Iowa
Me and my cute nephew Jack. He has the best smile.

Nick's best friend Brandon has his own BYU Sports show called True Blue. Brandon gets press passes to all of the BYU events and gets to stand on the sidelines during the football games. Nick got to go with him to the UCLA game to be his helper. I think it was the happiest day of Nick's life. He got to be part of the tunnel when the BYU team ran out and stood in the middle of the field during the coin toss. He was standing in the end zones most of the game and therefore ended up in the background on national TV. He is so famous. After the game was over, he had to be dragged off of the field.

Home Sweet Home

So Nick and I moved a few weeks ago and we love our new place! I guess most of the pictures are self-explanatory so I won't bother to explain each picture. We do have a second bedroom that I didn't include pictures of because I haven't done anything to that room yet. It will be a nursery/office pretty soon!

The big clock on the living room wall was given to Nick and me for our wedding. My mom's companion from her mission made it for us and I just love it!
